I've done what I hoped to do today, for the most part. This included sleeping in, going to Home Goods and World Market, and cracking open my newest cookbook. One of the food bloggers I follow on posted about this book on IG, and it looked like something I could do. Looking through the recipes, there's a lot of kale...I actually don't mind kale, but it's a lot of prep work. I think. I've never actually prepped it. Anyway, I used sticky note flags to mark recipes I want to make. When I'll make them is another story. I still have two other baking books waiting for me. Plus, I need to see if my current book has something that will use up the 4 bananas I purposely left uneaten.

Speaking of eating, why am I feeling weird after my bagel and cream cheese? Could have something to do with the overabundance of coffee I've consumed today.

Oh, I also wanted to maybe make millionaire's shortbread, but that will have to wait a while.

So the popular thing lately is Marie Kondo's show on Netflix. I remember her book coming out a few years ago, but fewer people seemed to take notice of that. However, I don't need the KonMari method. I declutter on a regular basis. I just get aggravated when things are disorganized or take up too much space. Not that my house is by any means spotless. The chair I never sit in is currently the home of 3 dresses that I need to donate to an organization that provides free prom dresses to girls in need. They are old bridesmaid dresses; fancy but not blingy or outlandish. One is cocktail length. One has a lot of snags in the tulle at the bottom, though I don't think they are too obvious. Plus, the dress can be shortened to cocktail length if they wanted to. How do I know this? The sample at Nordstrom had one that had been shortened. However, it's a lot of layers of tulle, and it cost an arm and a leg to get it shortened and taken in for me.

I think I'll watch Ant Man, so I can eventually watch the sequel before it's taken off Netflix. It's been a good day to relax.

I swear everyone has been talking about that Marie Kondo thing! It kind of amazes me haha. Mind you, my house needs a bit of a decluttering right now, maybe I should watch it...

It might help some people. Me, I don't have too much trouble letting things go after a while. I am still emotionally attached to some items, but those are pretty organized. I just got rid of maybe 8 pairs of dressier shoes that I thought I might need to wear again someday. Some things it takes longer for me to let go of, but I eventually do.

Some people like clutter, and I've come to realize that if it's not hurting them, then it's no big deal.

You and me both.

KonMari seems to be all the hype ... but I don't get it!

I want to watch just to see what it is, but I don't need it for myself.

I watched one episode of that show and got so angry, I definitely couldn't watch it anymore. Sure, I could make my house spotless and insanely organized if I had a month off (which it what takes the couples on this show to do this) and had a professional cleaner telling me exactly what to do.

Some of her methods also don't vibe with me.

Without having seen the show or your house besides what you have posted, I'm still pretty sure yours is not in a terrible state.

Spotless is never going to happen. I just have to make myself do a little here and there each day, or every couple of days. Today, however, I did a bunch more purging and cleaning. The purging was a bunch of my friend's stuff that she left here when she moved back to CA, and some shoes I've not worn in years and probably never will. Oh and I made banana bread.

Not that I know of. I just sometimes go to watch something on my list and find it's gone. I swear they removed Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Rings for a time. I was going to watch one day (and didn't want to put in the dvd) and it was not on at all. A while later, it's back on my list. No idea what that was about.

Oh Homegoods. I have a hard time not over-spending in there. lol

I did such a major declutter with the move that I haven't felt the need to try it.
