1) What is the most outrageous style you've ever rocked?
Ha, none. I was mostly awkward until well into college. I did try to copy Ginnifer Goodwin's short hairdo a couple of years ago, but she wears it better.

2) As a teen, were you an emo, goth, punk, grunger, or prep?
Prep, if I had to choose a category.

3) Have you ever had a crazy hairstyle/colour?
No. In college I wanted to try green hair, but by that point I was interning in classrooms where colored hair would be frowned upon. I am now (hopefully) going into a very casual work environment that would not care about crazy hair color. However, I kind of raise my eyebrows at adults with rainbow shades of hair. Maybe I can just do a streak of color.

4) Do you think we ever really grow out of our teen selves?
98% yes. I still have a few hang-ups.

5) Is there any fashion style you wish you could wear but maybe don't have the confidence?
Well, I wear leggings in public and don't care. However, I sort of wish I had the whimsy of my old roommate who throws outfits together that aren't always great, but she has the carefree attitude to pull it off. My problem is not confidence, but practicality. I wish I could wear tops that have bare shoulders (halter neck, thin straps, etc) but then my bra straps would show. Sometimes, the sides of the cups also show. Le sigh.

I was a jeans and t shirt person, still am, but about 95% of people who know me would totally believe I was Goth in high school, minus any piercings. I need to get a kohl pencil and practice goth eyes.

And I have never colored my hair at all! Apparently everyone does. There are a few women here who dye theirs a bright blue or purple or red, but I don't think I could rock that look. I've thought about balayage, but I don't have patience for upkeep.

If not for being a teacher, I'd have worn jeans and various tops everyday.

My hair is so light that highlights are pointless. Even at times I thought about dying it some other natural-looking shade, the the thought of roots and upkeep was too much.

Oh! My ugly American former neighbor here just fried the hell out of her hair, to the point that it was breaking off about 2 inches from the scalp. It was cumulative damage from the colorist she uses now and the one she used before him. Basically none of the colorists in Bahrain know how to work with fine hair and not kill it, but the whole experience chastened me. If I'm vain enough to want to change my hair color, wouldn't it be a bigger blow for my hair to be totally destroyed in the process?
Probably I have a few gray hairs in there. I make a point of never looking.
