Last night, I got this Windows alert about a virus that wouldn't go away, and also affected IE. AOL went berzerk too. After hours of help from a friend (at least Yahoo IM still worked) I finally went to bed, hoping that things would be fixed. Spybot was scanning yet again, but I just couldn't stay up to see if the problem was solved. Fast forward to this morning, when the alert was still there. I messed around some more with the computer in safe mode, shut it down, and later headed to Staples. The tech guy said it wasn't actually a virus, just Microsoft pushing it's products. That makes sense since none of the scans found the virus the alert named. He said if necessary, call Microsoft and have them help me remove the warning. So far, no need for that, since my computer seems to be back to normal. No alerts since I started it up again.

My computer is virtually my entertainment, as well as used for work purposes. Not having it means being bored, and not being able to access email. Silence last night was bugging me, since I couldn't use iTunes. Fortunately, I have a small speaker dock for my iPod, so I don't need earphones. Basically, I was a wee bit panicked at the possibility of not having my computer. I'm sure I could live without it, and certainly I could stand to spend less time on the internet, but still.

Last night I went to Barnes and Noble looking for a certain book, and ended up browsing the teacher reference section. They didn't have the book I wanted, but I almost bought 2-3 others. Both were pointing out problems with education and suggesting ways to fix them. They made me excited and depressed; excited that people out there know NCLB and other thigns are problems, but depressed because I can't do anything about it. Shoot, my own school has it's head so far up NCLB's rear that I'm forgetting what the light of day looks like.

Brownies are made for the Super Bowl party tomorrow. Laundry and cleaning are in process. Always things to do, and never seem to be done.
