It's old, it's a little cheesey, but it's one of those things you just have to watch. That said, I'm shocked at how many people I know have not seen it. Did y'all not grow up watching NBC???
I wasn't really into older movies. I'd probably appreciate it more now anyway. I mean, I know enough about it to appreciated the parody in the beginning of Moulin Rouge.
Sometimes I really miss tv. Then a few commercials and those annoying animated things at the bottom of the screen during shows ruins it all over again.
I never, ever saw this movie on TV and was actually surprised by your comment of it being on all the time during December!
She put up with a TON of crap before things fell into place.
Some of those nuns were just SNOTS. "What is the problem with Mariaaaaaa????" as if she's some piece of damaged goods. *GRUMBLES*
I love, LOVE "My Favorite Things." It's one of the VERY FEW songs I can or will sing out loud when other people are around me, though I am selective about those few and still don't sing it very loudly. :)
Heh heh heh heh yes, I am sitting here in my lair concocting my plans. I already have verbal agreement with one friend to watch it next movie night. Our other friend tried to rescue her but I will prevail! Sometime in November Reena and Michelle will come watch. They now know I mark important events like this on lj.
I made fun of that movie for YEARS, until my friend Michelle asked me what my problem was (because she loves it). I finally had to admit that I'd never seen it but just liked to make fun of it, so she sat me down and made me watch it. I normally hate musicals - I couldn't even get through the first song in Moulin Rouge because it was a stupid Nirvana cover (and man, I just do NOT like listening to Ewan sing), but I LOVED this one. It's just a wonderful movie! So are you going to watch it this weekend? LOL :D

Erm. You do realize my username, right? Probably not the best choice of words to convince me of anything. ;)
LOL yeah I saw your username, but was thinking more along the lines of "Trainspotting" when I read it. I hate Nirvana far more than my minimal dislike of Ewan's singing. Ewan was *wonderful* in The Pillow Book, though. ;)
Your right, we all need more than just teaching and exhaustion. It is easy to make that our entire focus during the school year. I am only in my second year of teaching so I am still in that learning mode and consumed with how to balance everything… it is exhausting.
Of course you are wishing for good things, we always do. We don’t wish for bad things in our lives. I’m just saying that the grass is not always greener on the other side.
My personal belief is that the Lord has a plan. He may have someone special for each of us. Perhaps he is not done molding you, me, or our special someone’s. One day the time will be right and we will be so glad that we waited for that person. And when we committed to them, don’t you hope that you look back on the time that you were single and took advantage of that freedom.
It seems like you are adventurous, but you are just in a mood right now… is that right?
Adventurous? I don't know. I guess I'm adventuroius in a travel-sort of way. I'm not chicken, but I don't really throw myself into situations either.
I'm in my 4th year teaching, and I'm still learning how to balance everything. My current mode is to procrastinate. That said, I have to finish my lesson plans after 2 weeks off.
