Smells like rain

The "smells like rain" phenomena has been something I've wondered about lately. What is i we smell, and where does it come from? It happens more often here in AZ than I remember in CA, and the smell is stronger. Sometime, I'll remember to do a Google search. Suddenly, I don't want to use "Google" as a verb; maybe it's because we were scoring writing samples today. A grammar-intense day usually makes me more self-consious about my writing.
Today was a professional development day, so no students but I am still exhausted. Maybe it's the buildup from the rest of the week. When I finally left work, I decided to go to the mall. My main goal was to find clothes, but I almost went to Build-a-Bear Workshop. I realized it was silly to go make a stuffed animal I don't need. I did, however, buy something I never thought I would: Crocs. When I passed the Crocs stand, I sort of giggled and rolled my eyes, wondering when the trend will end. Then, I saw Croc ballet flats at Macy's, which were really comfortable. So, I got a black pair. The flats are not bulky and garden-shoe looking. Not that I'll be wearing them with anything formal, but they are a cute little casual shoe. I asked the salesperson to take off the tags so I could wear them, and soon realized they are too big. With the tag on the heels holding the pair together, they fit, but without, my heels slip out with every step. Since it's too late to return them, I will see if they fit my friend and maybe sell them to her.
My original goal for this evening was to come home and clean. The mall was one delay, and stopping at the shop was another. Yet, I came home instead of helping close the shop. I'm just pooped. That, and my messy apartment is really bothering me. I have a ton of laundry to put away. I also need to change my sheets. It's 10pm, and all I've done is clean out my fridge and take out the trash. Everytime I clean the fridge, I ask myself why it's so hard to 1) finish a jug of milk, and 2) throw out jugs that have gone past expiration date.
Brain is beginning to quit. Must clean a little bit more, then go to bed.

Date: 2007-08-25 08:01 pm (UTC)Oh no! You've succumbed to CROCS! 0_0! J/K ... as long as they're not the garden shoe kind. What is the appeal of those?? I will never understand it. I'll have to look the ballet flats up - those sound cute.
Why is it so hard to clean the fridge? It feels like it takes a whole day to do. I hope you did at least one of your intended tasks ^_~
