Period dramas. All I want to watch anymore are period dramas. Sherlock Holmes included, [livejournal.com profile] ewanspotter, which I saw at the store today. While browsing for pictures of Little Dorrit I keep coming across listings and recommendations for other period dramas. I still have Bleak House to watch, as well as Oliver Twist (it came with LD). Let's add Tess of the D'Ubervilles, Wives and Daughters, aaaaaaand I can't remember what else.

Maybe I just like happy endings. Maybe I just like seeing familiar British actors and then going on wild imdb.com searches to see where I've seen so and so before.

Hmm, and what am I going to do when LOST is over? Gasp.

LJ needs to expand it's mood selection. I'd like to add procrastinating, obsessed, and pondering, among others.

Friends are coming over to watch movies on Saturday. Maybe I will rent...if there's still a Blockbuster around that is.

So long as it doesn't leave me depressed at the end...?

Hah. No. This isn't the type of movie to have a depressing ending. That'll be the next one if they follow canon.

Wow, Ikea was around back then? Or is that Pottery Barn decor?

It wasn't until watching SH today that I figured out he's holding a violin bow there.

My favorite parts:
"YOU wear a jacket."
"You know that stuff you're drinking is for eye surgery?"
Irene's dresses with the giant butstle butts.
And, of course, recognizing people and running to IMDB to see what else they were in.

Twas funny. Made me wince a lot watching all the pain/fighting, but many very funny lines.

The eye-surgery bit was the only reference they could really make to Holmes's cocaine habit in a PG-13 movie. XD

Oh, see I never would have known that.

You're not really supposed to, unless you're uber familiar with Victorian medicine (I certainly didn't until after I saw the movie). But it was a nod to Canon in a subtle way. Holmes uses both morphine and cocaine (his famed seven-percent-solution) occasionally, neither of which were illegal at the time (although Watson is not fond of the "vices" and eventually weans Holmes from them).
