Ok I'm admittedly selective (picky?) about old movies. I tend to either love them or hate them, and can't really explain why. Usually I watch old movies if someone else is or makes me. I saw Seven Brides for Seven Brothers once and loved it, but really shy away from other musicals fearing too much cheese. I've seen parts of Singing in the Rain. I liked Chicago, but have only seen it once.
Just give SoM a try. I don't expect everyone to LOVE IT, but at least try it. I'm willing to try things in return. Just not Mary Poppins.
