Feb. 3rd, 2009 08:40 pmIf you haven't done so already, memorize important phone numbers stored in your cell phone! It does NOT help to have them written in your address book in your house when you lock your keys and cell phone IN THE CAR. Yes, I finally did this. I used to think if I locked my keys in the car, I could just call my friend Jen who has my spare apartment key. I have a spare car key in my apt. Well, that's all fine and good if I have my purse with my cell phone on me, but the purse was locked in the car. The office had closed 10 minutes or so earlier. I knocked on 3 neighbors doors, 2 of which didn't answer, and another apologetically said they only had a cell phone. I went to the next closest apartment, and they happily let me use their cell phone. I called 411, but Jen and Alysssa (who has Jen's number) are both unlisted. I thought I might remember Alyssa's number, but instead managed to get the beginning of her cell and the end of her home numbers. The dad knew the office number, so I left a message on the emergency maintenance line. Happy ending: one of the maintenance guys came by and let me in.
I felt like a total idiot. Thankfully, the family in apt. 1010 was awesomely helpful.
I've written a few numbers in my lesson plan book and in the notepad in my purse. Just to be safe, I'll memorize them as well.
