Fun meme thing I got from [personal profile] holbytla

Comment and I will pick 7 of your interests for you to explain.

Foxtrot: long ago, when I lived places that actually got the newspaper, I usually only read the section with the comics. After a while, Foxtrot became my favorite, and I got a few books of it. I have four.

Get Fuzzy: Another favorite comic strip. I have a few books of that as well, and this is the second year I've had a page-a-day calendar. I save the pages where the comic made me LOL. In the time I was majorly into Lord of the Rings, Get Fuzzy had a storyline where Bucky turned Rob's action figures into Bucky dolls, and Rob sometimes wore a Weta shirt. Can you guess how excited I was for a LOTR reference?

Hume Lake: A week-long Christian camp I went to for five summers. The first year was jr. high (Meadow Ranch), and then high school (Ponderosa).  I could have gone one last time after I graduated, but I didn't. So many memories: boating on the lake, the Cove, the nasty pond, snow cones in the Arc, the snack shop, spending just about all my free time at the pool, the leaders, Joel Weldon, the speakers... I loved that place.

Useless trivia: I've always been a sponge for knowledge, whether it's useful or not. I read everything that has words on it, like packages or signs or magazines cover to cover, whatever. I remember way back one night in college looking up websites with random facts. I think I was really bored that night. Still, every so often what I thought was a useless factoid came in handy, like someone would be trying to explain something and I'd know exactly what they were talking about. There was a time I almost scared someone because I knew what they were taking about.

Road trips: I inherited the driving gene from my dad. I love driving to new places. I like just going out sometimes, without a destination in mind. My friend and I used to drive to the Wal-Mart that was an hour away, and take a longer route, just for fun (Wal-Mart was more of a novelty back then, and there wasn't 5 in every town, like where I live now). If I have the choice, I'd rather drive than ride, but sometimes I let others take the wheel. Tomorrow I'm going out to Palm Desert with some work friends. It's going to be blasting hot, but oh well!

Side dishes for dinner: Rice-a-Roni is meant to be a side dish. Well, I used to cook and eat whole boxes of it for dinner. Other side dishes-turned-meals include broccoli, corn on the cob, macaroni and cheese, mashed potatoes, potato salad, and refried beans.

Collecting icons: it took a while to figure out this whole LJ thing, including icons. I started watching a few icon communities, and ended up saving far, far more than my originally allotted 3 icons. Anyone else remember the days of free accts = 3 userpics? Then it was 6, and then 15, I think. Since I created this journal as an outlet for my fangirlishness, I was mostly getting LOTR icons. Really, you cannot have enough icons of Aragorn and Arwen, trust me on this. Eventually I had to make a file for all the icons I'd saved, and my fandoms expanded, and I now have approximately 958 icons saved on my computer. When a paid account with 30 (then 50+) wasn't enough, I bought more icon space, and now have room for 114 icons, of which 90 are uploaded.
