All I could think of was how did the horse get to the other side of the lake so fast, and why is he jumping into the icky, murky pond instead of the other lake? You have no idea how much that made me laugh aloud! Goodness. The lake scene is ridiculous to me, but the '95 version Colin fangirls love it.
The book that came with my version of the movie said that that scene was supposed to express that Darcy is not an old stiff, he's a young man who likes the outdoors and isn't afraid of mussing his hair. Or something. I just laugh when I see it.
