Moulin Rouge

I just watched Moulin Rouge for the third time...ever. First time was in the theater in 2001, second time was about three years later on TV, and now, finally on my dvd. I loved it the first time I saw it, but man, I forgot how GOOD this movie is. I found myself holding my breath many times, getting emotionally involved even though I know what happens. I had forgotten a lot of specific things, so seeing the story again was almost like seeing it for the first time.

I want Satine's red dress. Ewan McGregor sings like a dream. I was singing along with all the songs. Toulouse cracks me up, as does the narcoleptic Argentinian. Love this movie. Need at least one icon, though do I really need another movie-couple icon? Yeah, I do. :D

Edit: found icon!

I liked the movie myself. I've seen it twice. Made me sad, but good none the less. I can't remember the last time I saw it though. It's been years I am sure.

My favorite part is all the men at the theater singing Nirvana. Love that movie.

My favorite is them singing and dancing (Spectacular Spectacular) for the Duke. They all look so goofy.

Ooh, thanks for the link, I took one of the iconses.

I loved Romeo and Juliet (same director) so I liked the similar film style. First hearing them sing Sound of Music made me go o_O in the theater so I was interested. It's a love story/chick flick, so that gets my vote, and great music that like everyone I know used to sing. So, uh, yeah, I love it. For many reasons. LOL.

Have you seen all of Moulin Rouge? Or stopped? Or... anything along those lines?

I wonder if you have to be familiar with the 20th century music references to fully appreciate it. Or really like it. Or something.

I just ask because when I talk to people who say they don't like it, 80% of the time it's always, "I just stopped watching after 20 minutes."

And you know, as I do, that the movie IS really weird in the first 20 minutes. But it settles down.

People are allowed not to like it, obviously. I just think before people judge they need to watch the thing from beginning to end.

True, it is weird at the beginning, and it is worth watching all the way through.

I read every so often that David Wenham was in it, but couldn't remember who he was. Ha ha ha, Faramir was Audrey!

Yeah, bright blue wig and makeup. Lovely look for him.

Well, his nickname *is* Daisy...

I can't even begin to describe how much I love this movie. You know me -- it's not exactly my normal forte. But something about it is so magical it's beyond words.

Many things about it are magic. Of course, Ewan being a big one, actually, singing!Ewan :D

He melts my ovaries in that movie.

He's just so... innocent. And you believe every second of it.
