Friday Five: hydration

Have you hydrated appropriately?
Nope. I bring a can of fizzy water to work daily, which I pour into my tumbler filled with ice. I usually only drink half of it, in addition to the iced coffee I also bring. At home, I'l usually have another can or some water spiked with cranberry juice.

What are your feelings on fizzy water (LaCroix and similar)?
About 2 years ago, I tried to find a soda substitute. I tried a few things before someone suggested La Croix. Now, I love the stuff. I love the carbonation more than the taste of soda. I've tried many brands, and usually get whatever's on sale. It amuses me that my dad used to drink bottles of plain Crystal Geyser sparkling mineral water by the Costco case, and I thought it tasted awful. Even the fruit "flavored" ones were bad. Oh how age changes us.

Is there a particular holiday-associated beverage you like?
Not really. I like some of the seasonal flavors Starbucks offers.

Do you have a fancy coffee or tea order? (possibly only for special occasions?)
nope.

Do you only drink hot beverages when it is cold outside? Why or why not?
Pretty much, because it's only "cold" for about a month here. Even then, it's a rare thing for me to get a hot drink. I had hot tea a few times this week however.

I drink hot beverages when it's cold outside too, but I still have water with my dinner.

At home, I usually don't have anything to drink with meals. At work, I have to make an effort to bring my water over to the break room.

I can't believe you're not more thirsty! I feel like I am forever fighting thirst here.

My friend Natalie used to always complain she was dehydrated, and she carried her hydroflask all the time. I told her she can't be dehydrated because she's always chugging water. Thirsty, yes, but not dehydrated.

I've never been a super thirsty person. In the summer I definitely drink more though.

I have to admit I drink more in summer than in winter but in winter I drink 3 big mugs of herbal tea while at work and then about a litre of tea in the evening. Fizzy water with dinner ...

More in general or more hot drinks?

I finally started to like hot tea while in the UK.

More in general - I drink about 2 - 2 1/2 litres of water in the summer.

This is a really cool quiz. I will have to do it sometime.

Happy Birthday by the way!

I never tried La Croix until after I got back from Bahrain, but people would get into physical altercations over it on base (don't get between a hormonal military spouse and her pamplemousse LaCroix!). Now I keep it on hand, and even Robert will drink it occasionally because I don't buy pop, so it's either a juice box or a [kirkland brand LaCroix alternative].

I get endless amusement from the word pamplemousse.

Mix a juice box and a can of bubbly water. Tastes like soda!

Did you ever drink that Izze stuff? Juice plus sparkling water probably tastes like that.

Izze is pretty tasty too.

We go through sooo much sparkling water in our house. La Croix, San Pellegrino, or store brand (Target or Costco typically). It's basically a constant grocery purchase for me at this point.

I don't drink enough liquid when it's cooler or cold out. I need to work on that.

[identity profile] ringsandcoffee.livejournal.com 2019-12-10 02:34 am (UTC)(link)
I will buy store brand when I don't feel like paying the extra buck for La Croix, which is dumb because I spend WAY more than that on coffee. San Pellegrino is even more expensive, so I haven't gotten that yet.

The San Pellegrino I only buy at Costco because that makes it moderately affordable. Their dark cherry is absolutely delicious.
