(no subject)

I went to Chick-Fil-A for the first time tonight. Well, technically I had a sample a couple of years ago. I wanted Burger King but traffic made me seek other options. So, not having a clue what I'd get, I headed to the drive-thru. I noticed something different right away about the place. I ordered, got my total, and was told "We'll be happy to help you at the window." Pull up, and the friendly language continued, plus everyone just seemed super friendly. I'm impressed, I must admit. Other plusses: waffle fries (!), whatever the sauce packet was (honey roasted bbq?), and pickles on my sandwich. Yum.

Four more days. Life is SO MUCH DIFFERENT with 14 students. More on that eventually.

1. They're a Christian organization

2. I've loved them since before I was actually a Christian (though I thought I was at the time, but there sure was ZERO evidence of it)! I miss their chicken. I haven't had Chik-Fil-A in YEARS. FYI: they're closed on Sundays, unless something has changed.

Mmmmmm, Chik-Fil-A!!!

[identity profile] bowiechaser.livejournal.com 2008-12-16 02:43 am (UTC)(link)
And PS: I don't know why I felt the need to point out they're Christian, other than perhaps as an answer to why they were so nice.
Don't know why I felt the need to point out that I've loved 'em since before I was a Christian, except possibly to nullify that connection as being the reason WHY I love them. Heh.

I think we saw one years ago in Denver, on a Sunday, and it was closed. The signs on the ones around here say "closed on Sundays." I thought maybe it was a Mormon thing, to be honest.

Yay Christian organizations!

*chuckles and beams*

Did you know that there are Bible verses in the french fry boxes at In & Out!?
YUP...last I looked (a couple years ago), THERE THEY WERE!

:D

Have you heard about the goofy Newsweek cover story?

[identity profile] ringsandcoffee.livejournal.com 2008-12-16 02:59 am (UTC)(link)
I knew abotu In-n-Out, but haven't seen Newsweek.

[identity profile] bowiechaser.livejournal.com 2008-12-16 03:02 am (UTC)(link)
I've heard *about* it - big black Bible on the cover and a VERY one-sided rant against evangelicals re: gay marriage stance.

[identity profile] mercuriehg.livejournal.com 2008-12-16 04:52 pm (UTC)(link)
you know, i've always been under the impression that chick-fil-a was LDS owned too... i was about to tell you that it was but i decided i better look it up first, turns out it was started by a southern baptist. now i'm wondering where i got the whole LDS idea... at least that explains why there aren't any in SLC.

at any rate, i don't like chicken but when i did, i looooved chick-fil-a. their nuggets are REALLY good too, they're not processed but just little chunks of actual chicken. and the brownies... mmm.

[identity profile] mercuriehg.livejournal.com 2008-12-16 04:54 pm (UTC)(link)
oh, also, forever 21 bags have the same bible verse on them as the in-n-out cups. things you don't find out until you get really bored on the way home from the mall.

[identity profile] ringsandcoffee.livejournal.com 2008-12-17 02:07 am (UTC)(link)
Forever 21 does? Interesting. They just seem a total teeny-bopper store to me.

[identity profile] mercuriehg.livejournal.com 2008-12-17 02:41 pm (UTC)(link)
they are. i don't think that teeny-bopper and christian are mutually exclusive... are they?

[identity profile] ringsandcoffee.livejournal.com 2008-12-18 01:46 am (UTC)(link)
No, just the clothes don't always strike me as completely appropriate.

[identity profile] mysterygal11.livejournal.com 2008-12-16 02:48 am (UTC)(link)
Ooooooh yum. Chick-Fil-A waffle fries.

I think I missed something... When did your class of 40 get cut to 14?

[identity profile] ringsandcoffee.livejournal.com 2008-12-16 02:50 am (UTC)(link)
I had 37-38 since Labor Day, but I guess that's close enough to 40. The new teacher started last week setting up and getting ready, and today was her first day with kids. She got 23 of them.

[identity profile] bowiechaser.livejournal.com 2008-12-16 03:13 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, good - I was wondering the same thing, and now I know. :)
Elementary school teachers were magical when I was a kid! Do you get to read to them?
My favorite stories were the one about the trumpeter swan without a voice, and the one where people got trapped on and then escaped from Alcatraz. GOOD STUFF.

I used to get busted for reading when I was supposed to be paying attention. *laughs*

[identity profile] roseleaf.livejournal.com 2008-12-16 03:12 am (UTC)(link)
They also marinate their chicken in pickle juice. And fry in peanut oil, because they're a Georgian company and want to support the state's economy. We got school lunches from there once a month or so at my school in Scottsdale, and I had kids with peanut allergies, hence the excessive Chik-Fil-A info. :-) Good stuff, though.

[identity profile] bowiechaser.livejournal.com 2008-12-16 03:13 am (UTC)(link)
NO WAY!? That's awesome - YAY for more info on Chik-Fil-A! That's great! :D :D :D

[identity profile] nomdelamer.livejournal.com 2008-12-16 08:22 am (UTC)(link)
ohgosh I love Chick-Fil-A!!!

Next time, Get their Chargrilled Chicken Sandwich!!! It's heavenly! =D

ps - they're still closed on Sundays ;)

[identity profile] ringsandcoffee.livejournal.com 2008-12-17 02:08 am (UTC)(link)
I got the chargrilled chicken, and it was delish.

[identity profile] mashena.livejournal.com 2008-12-16 10:43 am (UTC)(link)
I can't believe you've never been to Chick-fil-A before!

You didn't happen to go to one in the middle of a big shopping center did you? That might have been my brothers if so... lol

[identity profile] ringsandcoffee.livejournal.com 2008-12-17 02:10 am (UTC)(link)
I went to the one at Mesa Riverview, which is a big shopping center. It's near a huge sporting goods store, among other places. Is that the one?

[identity profile] mashena.livejournal.com 2008-12-17 02:18 am (UTC)(link)
ah. no. Mike's is in Deer Valley. Glad you enjoyed Chick-fil-A though! :D

[identity profile] jessibobessi.livejournal.com 2008-12-16 11:29 am (UTC)(link)
I've never been to chick fil a. We dont have them in these here parts :-P

I'm so glad your class is smaller. I know I still have no right to complain with 23 but I know last year with 13 - things were so much more manageable. I particularly hate conferencing with students and arts n crafts with 23 kids. It takes forever!

[identity profile] holbytla.livejournal.com 2008-12-16 03:04 pm (UTC)(link)
lol I've never been to Chick-Fil-A! I've never been a lot of places though, so it's no surprise.

I love that they're closed on Sundays.
I think it was McDonalds that had a billboard adverstising their chicken sandwiches, boasting they were open on Sundays. Made me dislike McDonalds a lot more than I already do.

Your icon made me laugh :D

[identity profile] ringsandcoffee.livejournal.com 2008-12-17 02:11 am (UTC)(link)
There was a recent post of funny Darcy icons, and I grabbed a bunch.

I do love me McDonalds sometimes! Always have, always will.

[identity profile] ewanspotter.livejournal.com 2008-12-18 06:14 am (UTC)(link)
I... may have had that one time in my life. They had like a mini one at my college cafeteria place.

So, this place is Becky approved?

[identity profile] ringsandcoffee.livejournal.com 2008-12-19 12:56 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, it receives the Becky Seal of Approval!
