Thoughts: YES the supermodel stuff is a stereotype. I am 5'8" and weigh 170. I am proportionate, though, not top or bottom or middle heavy. My teeth are not straight, and I've got a funky birthmark under my nose that, more than once in life, someone has stared at and asked "is your nose bleeding?" *shaking head over that* (Really, if it WAS, you'd see a wad of tissue UP my nose to STOP the bleeding, dolt!) I sometimes talk loud, laugh loud, act loud. I am outgoing and opinionated, though I don't always share that right away. I am fairly comfortable in my own skin, recognizing my own flaws on the inside & outside. I am still insecure in many ways, but overall feel I'm pretty. Sometimes, I am incredibly shallow and petty and look at the people of walmart site & think "hey, if those folks can get a significant other, so can I" ... but I still waited around 9 YEARS to date after I left my ex-fiancee...and have been dating a WONDERFUL guy for around 6 months now.
YES, looks matter to a degree. Don't be a sloppy pig & go out in your flannel PJs. Totally juvenile and unattractive. Perform basic maintenance on yourself: brush the hair & teeth, wash the body, use deodorant...stuff like that. Keep the nails clean & neat. Wear clean clothes. I am QUITE SURE that everyone reading this is already doing all those things. I wear some makeup...eye makeup and lip gloss. Maybe 3x a year I will wear base makeup to even out my skin tone. I wear jeans almost constantly.
OVER-confidence is as annoying as UNDER-confidence. Just rest in who YOU are, ladies. You are you, and you are likeable and attractive in your own way. Men like ALL KINDS of body types but really, it is true...some simple comfort in your own skin goes a long way towards making you overall more attractive.
Now, I admit it...ringsandcoffee I've forgotten your name (as I have with MOST of my lj friends, d'oh), but I've seen pics of you and you're a cute, slender, athletic gal with a good heart. We all need to stop comparing ourselves to the fake, miserably skinny underfed & airbrushed chicks on magazines. Eat, enjoy food and life, and that radiates out & makes us more attractive!
